Sink Deep into the Abundant Grace of God

The sight of finally putting a baby to sleep is a very comforting sight. The compassion and patience put into the act overflow through the test of the baby’s rebellion and weeping. This truly reminds us of the grace of the Lord as well.

It says in Luke 15:4-6, “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbours together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

Amidst the darkness of this world and our sinful nature, doesn’t the Lord continue to chase us over and over again? Yes, He does. He never grows weary of just overflowing in us his love, not that He needed to but because He chose to and that’s truly how amazing God’s grace is. Even after one becomes one with Christ in spirit, one may still continue their unfaithful ways because of the desires of the flesh.

The story of the prodigal son, even more, gives us a good illustration of God’s grace. Despite the younger son leaving his father, taking away all his inheritance and spending it off lavishly, he still got accepted and even got welcomed grandly when He came back. The father never asked why and never condemned him for his actions but instead just willingly accepted Him back. And doesn’t this go the same for us?

Despite this abundant grace of God.  It chased us over and over again and it is a decision of whether to allow ourselves to be caught or not. The abundant grace of God is greater than one can imagine, but still, the Lord allows us to have the option of free will. He doesn’t just force us into a life of surrendering but the sweet decision comes from us.

A life of surrendering means letting ourselves lose in the presence of our Savior. That we allow Him to have the overall dominion of our situations, relationships and all the different aspects of our lives. This surrendering doesn’t simply mean that we lose it all for Him. It’s allowing Him to take control and at the same time growing deeper and deeper into Him. Just feeling every second of that embrace while He carries us home.

A life with God isn’t a life of perfection but rather a life of dependence on Him. It is a decision we, as believers, make daily, that from here and on God’s greater glory be done. The Lord will definitely allow trials to come but find rest in the fact that He just continues to lead us closer to Him. If He was able to solve the greatest problem, which was men’s separation from God, then what problem is there too big for Him to take control of?
